Countable Nouns

Countable nouns can be counted as individual units.

  • They have both singular and plural forms.
  • Use a / an for singular, numbers for plural.

Examples: apple, car, book, person, idea

I have an apple. She owns three cars. How many books do you read?

Uncountable Nouns

Uncountable nouns cannot be separated into individual units.

  • They use a singular verb.
  • They do not have a plural form.
  • Use much instead of many.

Examples: water, rice, information, advice, furniture, music

We need some water. (NOT: waters) Can you give me advice? (NOT: advices)
